This week at Olympia Farmer's Market I found a treat before I even entered the actual market! Someone has set up a telescope pointed at the nest of some Peregrine falcons, with a sign inviting people to come peek at the baby falcons! Very cool!! The nest is on one of the Port of Olympia cranes - apparently the parent falcons have decided this is the perfect location - and this year there are 3 pretty cute baby falcons in that nest.
And the Market was bustling today with people checking out the plants for both their flower gardens and their veggie beds. Lots of hanging baskets of all colors made a rainbow of beauty at several booths.
The Walla Walla sweet onions are in, and they say you can eat those sweet, yummy onions just like an apple. If you prefer to eat an apple just like an apple, that is easy at the market too - so many varieties to choose from that you might end up with a big bag full.
I did buy some pink lady apples, and then headed for the fresh asparagus - looks like a good addition to our dinner tonight!
Pretty sure I will be back down to Olympia Farmers Market this weekend, shopping for some veggie starts and to begin looking over the perennials to replace a couple of plants in our yard that didn't make it thru the winter. And to get another peek at the baby falcons!
