It's no secret that Thurston County is a rainy place a fair portion of the year. And rain gardens are an awesome way to manage rainfall so that storm water runoff doesn't cause as much pollution in our beautiful lakes, rivers and Puget Sound.
If you reside in unincorporated Thurston County, you can even get reimbursed up to $200 for plants and compost you buy to build your very own rain garden!
And there will be a FREE rain garden workshop where you can learn how to design and install a rain garden just right to help filter the storm water from your home's roof and driveway. The workshop will be Thursday, April 18, 2013 and Thursday, April 25, 2013 - both at 6:30-8:00 PM. Advanced registration is required and space is limited, so don't wait to sign up!
Each participant will get a free copy of WSU's "Rain Garden Handbook for Western Washington Homeowners". And best of all, you'll be ready to create your own "green" solution to storm water runoff at your house - with a great looking rain garden!
