Living Green Olympia: More Happening at Your Mail Box Today Than Just Mail!

More Happening at Your Mail Box Today Than Just Mail!

Today our letter carriers are making it easy for us to help stamp out hunger in our community.  It is the Letter Carrier's Food Drive day and time to fill up the plastic bags previously dropped off in our mail boxes.  Check those pantries and cupboards for nonperishable food items and load 'em up!  The plastic bag goes next to your mail box, and the letter carriers (and helpers) will pick them up to deliver to the Thurston County Food Bank.

What could be easier??  And - if you forget - also very easy to send a check to the Food Bank...

Hope this Food Bank Drive works out well for your area.

Thanks Cherise!  This drive has been going on a few years now with great results - the Food Bank gets lots of help during the holiday season, but is often running a bit low this time of year so this makes an easy way for people to think about it and help out!

Wow - I had been wondering what the final results of this were and the paper just published that the food drive collected 128,575 pounds of food!  Pretty cool!!
