Living Green Olympia: This Weekend at Olympia's Farmer's Market

This Weekend at Olympia's Farmer's Market

This weekend's visit to Olympia's Farmer's Market had so many goodies that I had to make two trips back out to my car!  I actually went to the market to get some more veggie plants for the garden, but got sidetracked a time or two on the way - not unusual for a market full of yummy, yummy things!

Asparagus at Olympia Farmer's Market

The asparagus from Eastern Washington was still looking so good that I NEEDED some of that....and a couple more apples....  And oh my - just look at the Walla Walla sweet onions that just came in!

And then the flowers reminded me that I really MUST have a few more things for my pots on the front walkway.

Plants galore at the market

I did manage to also get what I truly came for - several varieties of tomatoes, some cucumber plants, a couple zucchini plants - then had to run back again since I forgot the cilantro.  Gotta have cilantro so I can turn some of those tomatoes into salsa!

Farmer's Market music

As we got ready to leave the market, we also had to listen a bit to some toe-tapping music from the band on the market stage.

Smiley face cookie - yum!

And how could we think of leaving without getting Addy a "smiley face cookie"?  Oops that means I also had to get a mixed berry scone for me - LOL.

A very good visit to the Farmer's Market - can't wait to see what they will have next week!

The asparagus WAS yummy - I must get more this coming weekend!  Funny that until I moved to Washington and tasted fresh asparagus I didn't think I even liked it!  But fresh - wow it is so amazing :)

Those of us that have farmers markets are so fortunate.  Thank you for sharing your latest farmers market adventure. There is something so soul-battery-recharging about going their, as well as the practical benefits of great fresh food.

Nancy, you are so correct that beyond the yummy fresh local food, a farmer market offers a wonderful place to relax, connect with the community, and leave refreshed and happy.  Can't wait to see what's new at our market this week!
