Living Green Olympia: A Walk to the Pond - Simple Pleasures on a Sunny Olympia Day

A Walk to the Pond - Simple Pleasures on a Sunny Olympia Day

Hurray for sunshine in Olympia today!  I've been craving it and decided work could wait (laundry, groceries, and real estate too) - it was time for a walk with my granddaughter.  We headed out from my house thru the little path we have to the Chehalis Western Trail, and north to see if there might be any ducks on the pond.

Of course she made sure we would be ready to feed the ducks and we had a little bag of bread crumbs ready to entice any quackers we might see.  Along the way there are some horses in a pasture, so we stopped to watch them for a bit.  And we had to look at some ferns along the path and some water in the ditches to either side...

Then onward, greeting the many others out walking, running, bicycling, and strolling with their dogs on the Chehalis Western Trail.  This is the first time Addy has been to the pond, and the ducks were all at the far end, bobbing for something that looked yummy to them under the water.  So we hurled bread crumbs into the water for a bit, waiting for them to notice us and head over to eat.  But I guess we either were laughing too much or they were already pretty full - none decided to swim over to the bank where we waited.

Oh well - a little rest on the bench along the trail before we headed back - and then off we went to find some snacks.  Trying to feed the ducks had made us pretty hungry!

Quality time with Addy - sounds like a perfect way to spend your time.  Bonus:  excercise and fresh air!

Oh I can't wait for warmer weather so I can take my grand daughter for a walk.  You would get frostbite if you went out walking in NY today.

Hi Sharon - yes the fresh air and sunshine were so wonderful after the rainy streak we 've had.  (And hanging out with Addy is always on my favorites list).

Brrr Liz - doesn't sound like walking weather yet for you.  Seems like we always get a couple of these January "teaser" days that feel like spring - but we'll likely still have a bunch more rain & cold ahead.   So we enjoy the moments!
