Living Green Olympia: Let's Call it a Snow Day in Olympia!!!

Let's Call it a Snow Day in Olympia!!!

Let's call it a snow day in Olympia!  Actually this is day two of us being almost snowed in, with schools closed and many businesses starting late and closing early.

Snow in Olympia

We had about 7 inches of snow in our yard yesterday and it was coming down like crazy.  So being self-employed works nicely on days like that - I declared it a snow day and stayed home to play!

Snow in Olympia

Considering that some years we don't even get measurable snow in Olympia, when we get this kind of accumulation, the roads are a mess - but the playfulness is ON!  There were kids sledding, people having random snowball fights, some cross country skis and snowshoes brought out of the closet.  Knowing that in a day or two the temperatures will ease back up to normal, any precipitation will be rain not snow and all of this will melt away - well, you've gotta just enjoy it while you can!

Snow in Olympia

And the beauty of the snow in the trees and turning the landscape into a glitter of white - well, I'm thinking work can wait another's a snow day in Olympia!

Wow, Nice. We never had that much snow when I was stationed at Ft. Lewis in the 80's.

Nancy, it looks like you got a lot more snow than we did up here in Seattle. Bright and sunny today!

Beautiful.  I would have guessed you would normally get some snow.  Enjoy it.

Hi Roger!  Yes, it is really unusual for us to have this much - & we had a fairly heavy snow in November too!  How long were you stationed at Ft Lewis??

I think we did get quite a bit more than Seattle Greg - and it is sunny here today too - but COLD!!

Hi Mark - it really is beautiful, but most winters we have very small amounts of snow (& LOTS of rain!!!)

Nancy:  Absolutely stunning photographs ... but please, we in IL have had quite enough of this stuff they call snow!  Please ... don't send it our way ...

I love the snow!! It's so beautiful :) I've been saying I needed to get out and take some photos while it was still here.  I too have decided not to go out and about but to work from home, and maybe a little play time.

Hi Sandra - definitely a little play time!!  We know this white stuff won't stick around long!

Oh Judi - I hope we bounce from the snow to warm and balmy too!!!!! Some of my plants had been peeking up and budding so I hope this cold didn't hurt them.

Steve, it really has been a crazy winter for many!  We often don't even get one big snow per winter and we already had a pretty good one in November - so onward to spring (I hope!!)

Yep, Chris, it IS cold!  And I had to dig my snow boots out of the back of my closet - usually rain boots are what is necessary here...
